‘Wish Upon an Arc Star’ Requests

Together, we create life-changing wishes for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. When a wish comes true, it creates strength, hope and transformation in a person. A wish renews hope, uplifts spirits and encourages the belief in the impossible.

‘Wish Upon an Arc Star’ Process

  • Wish applications will be accepted anytime and should be sent to the Fundraising Manager (myriah.perry@thearcas.org) at least two weeks before the next Foundation Board meeting. Meetings are held on the third Wednesday in January, March, May, September, and November unless otherwise scheduled.
  • Wishes that have a specific date (concert, theater, event) must be received by the Fundraising Manager at least three weeks before the event date.
  • All request applicants will be notified of the Board decision via email.
  • Wish recipients must provide a follow-up report within three months of the ‘Wish’ happening to show how the funding was used and its results/impact.

    Memorable Moments

    Memorable Moments

The Arc of Steuben Foundation grants wishes throughout the year to people it serves. Nominations are submitted by staff to help a person have a once in a lifetime experience or to obtain equipment that is not funded by insurance.

Over the years the Foundation has granted wishes for a variety of items, such as three wheel bicycles, adult strollers, an iPad for enhancing communication, trips to Marine Land, Yankee stadium, concerts , camping and WWE Wrestling matches to name a few. The best parts of these wishes are the look of surprise on the person’s face when they are told. Staff typically do not tell the person of the nomination until it is approved. Hearing the stories of using the equipment for the first time or of a trip is priceless. Families are appreciative of this opportunity to give their loved ones items or experiences very much needed.
